Este workshop estará dedicado à aprendizagem da dentição desde uma perspetiva paleopatológica e paleodietética. Em primeiro lugar serão definidas umas linhas básicas para preenchimento de fichas de registo dentário humano, de campo e/ou laboratório, quer decíduo (não adultos), quer definitivo (adultos). Posteriormente, proporcionar-se-ão uns conhecimentos básicos sobre a formação de cáries e tártaro dentário, estabelecendo indicações sobre as principais metodologias de registo e análise laboratorial. Outras condições patológicas poderão ser referidas e acompanhadas de material fotográfico.Finalmente, salientar-se-á a importância da dentição na análise da dieta de populações do passado, remarcando os estudos que visam a extração e identificação de amidos vegetais nestes depósitos. Lecionar-se-á o protocolo de extração, análise e identificação laboratorial utilizado no projeto SAND, e mostrar-se-ão em todo momento imagens, quer do procedimento, quer dos resultados obtidos até à data.

This workshop will be dedicated to teething learning from a paleopathological and paleodietetic perspective. Firstl, basic lines will be defined for filling out human, field and / or laboratory dental record forms, whether deciduous (non-adults) or definitive (adults). Subsequently, basic knowledge about the formation of caries and dental tartar will be provided, establishing indications on the main methodologies of registration and laboratory analysis. Other pathological conditions may be mentioned and accompanied by photographic material. Finally, the importance of dentition in the analysis of the diet of past populations will be highlighted, highlighting the studies that aim at the extraction and identification of vegetable starches in these deposits. The extraction, analysis and laboratory identification protocol used in the SAND project will be taught, and images will be shown at all times, both of the procedure and of the results obtained to date.
